The result was the 1997 series The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police, broadcast on Fox Kids in the United States, YTV in Canada and Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Purcell joined with story editor Dan Smith from Canadian studio Nelvana to create an animated television series of Sam & Max in 1996. After producing the cover art for Herc's Adventures and concept art for The Curse of Monkey Island, Purcell left LucasArts. In 1995, Purcell combined all published Sam & Max printed media into a 154-page paperback compilation titled Sam & Max: Surfin' the Highway. Purcell decided to base the game on one of his earlier Sam & Max stories, the 1988 story "On The Road". Sam & Max Hit the Road was conceived and developed by a small team headed by Purcell, Sean Clark, Michael Stemmle and Collette Michaud. Note the rat on the car's grille, a common theme in Purcell's work.Īfter a positive reaction to the Sam & Max strips in The Adventurer and wanting to expand into other franchises following Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island, LucasArts offered to create a graphic adventure game on the characters in 1992. A 1988 issue of Sam & Max, published by Comico Purcell has been surprised at the cult status that the characters have acquired. Purcell wrote the six-issue comic book series Defenders of Dynatron City for Marvel Comics in 1992. References to the characters were occasionally made in unrelated LucasArts adventure games as a clandestine appearance in backgrounds. The characters eventually became involved as training material for LucasArts programmers working with SCUMM, the core game engine used by LucasArts adventure games Purcell created versions of Sam and Max in their office for new programmers under Ron Gilbert to practice on. He worked with animation in several LucasArts adventure games, published three more Sam & Max comic books during this time, and began creating brief comic strips for LucasArts' quarterly newsletter, The Adventurer. Purcell was later commissioned to create the cover artwork for Maniac Mansion and the first two Monkey Island games and researched into whips for the adventure game version of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. He was rehired to produce art for the graphic adventure game Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders. Purcell was hired by LucasArts, then known as Lucasfilm Games, as an animator in 1988, but was subsequently laid off when the project he was working on was canceled. These three stories established the basics for Purcell's future work with the characters. Purcell published a further story in a 1987 issue of Critters titled "Night of the Cringing Wildebeest". The comic contained two Sam & Max stories: "Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple", a name that Purcell found on a firework and thought was appropriate and "Night of the Gilded Heron-Shark". The 32-page comic was published by Fishwrap Productions in 1987. Purcell agreed, and wrote his first feature-length comic using the characters of Sam and Max. Moncuse approached Purcell about the possibility of another comic book series to accompany his well-performing Fish Police series in 1987. Following his graduation in 1982, Purcell became involved in freelance illustration, working briefly for Marvel Comics, Chaosium, and on Steven Moncuse's Fish Police series. These strips featured Sam and Max, an anthropomorphic dog and rabbit duo who work as vigilantes and private investigators Purcell drew the first strip the night before the deadline. Purcell entered into a career with comic books while an undergraduate at the California College of the Arts in 1980 he produced comic strips for the weekly newsletter. Purcell collaborated with Nelvana to create a Sam & Max television series in 1997, and briefly worked as an animator for Industrial Light & Magic after leaving LucasArts. Purcell was hired by LucasArts as an artist and animator in 1988 and worked on several LucasArts adventure games, including the first three Monkey Island games, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Sam & Max Hit the Road. He performed freelance work for Marvel Comics and Fishwrap Productions before publishing his first Sam & Max comic in 1987. The series has grown to incorporate an animated television series and several video games.Ī graduate of the California College of Arts and Craft, Purcell began his career creating comic strips for the college newsletter. He is the creator of the media franchise Sam & Max, for which Purcell received an Eisner Award in 2007. Steven Ross Purcell (born October 1, 1961) is an American cartoonist, animator, game designer and voice actor.

It does have the quirk of picking up a name that then just get stuck to that device like my iPad insists that it must rename itself every so often to name plus number usually (6) that will get picked up and then burned to that device in the listings even after it has changed. the scanner is really quite nice and the network scanner does a really good job. But I digress this app is well designed I wish it had support for the newer airport AP's it really has a lot of functions that were missing/removed from the AirPort Utility. used to be the phone could be a multi function door now you might as well just leave it as a phone. I need to know what's on the network to troubleshoot the network and if I can't do that on my phone I might as well have a computer which I have to carry around now anyway. I got this app long ago it was one of the first ios apps I paid for and I was very surprised and immediately picked up the desktop version, I got the pro version for the iPad yet but I can't justify paying for a Network Utility tool that can't scan network because stupid Apple. iNet is also available for iPhone and for iPad.Īt least MAC address is still work on the desktop version. We will add modules in the future like traceroute and more.

Of course, you can override the defaults to customize your experience, such as choosing a different installer than the one CrossOver downloads automatically. Instead, it uses defaults when possible and prompts you for the info you need to provide when necessary. Furthermore, CrossOver no longer uses a wizard format for installations. Right away, you’ll notice that we updated the search functionality. Here’s an overview of the three big changes new to CrossOver 22:įirst, we made extensive changes to the installation process. We wanted it to be easy for our users to find the things they need to do most often and to bring the CrossOver interface in line with our branding. We designed the new UI with two goals (twice as many as the leading competitor 1): to make CrossOver more intuitive to use and offer a more modern look and feel. Clearly, we were overdue for a CrossOver makeover. Before this redesign, the last time we made significant UI changes was in CrossOver 15, and the last time we did a major overhaul of our UI on all platforms was CrossOver 9. The hallmark of the CrossOver 22 release is a complete redesign of the user interface (now with twice as many cupholders) for macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. You could say CrossOver got comfortable with just being itself ( ala Mitch Hedberg).ĬrossOver 22 is about multiplication! If only because 22 is… well, 11 x 2, and it is two twos (technically a palindrome)… it is about bounty… beauty and grace… but really… CrossOver went from CrossOver Games and CrossOver Pro to “just” CrossOver. CrossOver 11 was an e pluribus unum moment. Smart Trim finds and brings together the best scenes based on the style of your video.Shot your video in low light? For best results, set up scratch disk volumes on actual separate drives. However, partitioning doesn’t improve performance because the single drive mechanism is a bottleneck. You can divide a single disk into partitions and set up each partition as a virtual scratch disk. If scratch disk files are stored on removable media and the media is removed from the drive, the scratch disk is not available to Premiere Elements. Adobe Premiere Elements reuses these files when you reopen the project associated with them. Scratch disk files are preserved for each project, even when you close the project. Avoid using removable media as scratch disks because Adobe Premiere Elements always requires access to scratch disk files. The throughput from a hard disk on a network is too slow. If your computer has only one hard disk, consider leaving all scratch disk options at their default settings. For best results, set up your scratch disks at the very beginning of a project, before capturing or editing. Specify the disks Premiere Elements uses for these files. If you delete conformed audio files, Adobe Premiere Elements automatically recreates them. All scratch disk files are preserved across work sessions. Adobe Premiere Elements uses conformed audio files and preview files to optimize performance, allowing real‑time editing, high processing quality, and efficient output. These include captured video and audio, conformed audio, and preview files. When you edit a project, Adobe Premiere Elements uses disk space to store scratch files for your project.
I know this isn't a device designed with Ableton in mind, and I could only find this: I looked around on GitHub as well, for more information about Ableton integration, because I really prefer to use Ableton's built in instruments, effects and workflow. Komplete Start also comes with a small assortment of Guitar FX, but I discovered it's an absolute pain to try to use this MIDI controller with the Guitar FX software's god-awful UI, you have to manually map each CC knob per-preset, they don't do that for you. So I have this expensive MIDI controller that doesn't work well with my software, but I can only truly enjoy using it with a couple toy instruments from "Komplete Start" (which doesn't even include a piano instrument FFS!). I also emailed Native Instruments because the serial number for this keyboard is registered to somebody else, and they basically said that if the previous owner doesn't agree to release the Komplete Select 14 license, then they won't be able to help me. I did some researching, and I was shocked to find out that the only way to get this thing's CC knobs and stuff to work with Ableton is by using some abomination of a hack-a custom Ableton Instrument Rack that contains the Komplete Kontrol VST inside. The keys feel great, the hardware is awesome! Then I realized that none of the CC knobs, playback buttons, navigation buttons are doing anything. Then I finally saw the device in Ableton, and tried the keys out. Turns out this hardware doesn't support M1 architecture, so I have to run Ableton under Rosetta (wtf?) to be able to use my MIDI keyboard, which by the way, requires full access to my entire disk. Well, after I got a USB connection, I wasn't seeing it in Ableton. I did some Googling, downloaded everything I could, signed up for a NI account (more on that later) only to realize after an hour or two of troubleshooting that it's because I was using a USB 3.0 cable, and the thing only supports USB 2.0. Rant incoming.įirst, I realized my M1 Macbook Air isn't seeing this thing, like, at all. I was really happy to realize that my $100 purchase is now worth much more! I've repaired another 88 key piano on another occasion, so this was a pretty straightforward fix. The seller said it's broken, one key made no sound, and one other key can't reach full velocity. I purchased a Komplete Kontrol S88 MK1 on Facebook Marketplace for the equivalent of about $100 USD. However, at least you can control Instrument Racks and faders this way. Navigation buttons still do not work, and most of the shortcuts mentioned in the documentation are broken. I created this repository to help fix a lot of the issues I complained about below, but it doesn't solve every issue. Hence, fixed costs of $20,000 divided by CM ratio of 66.67% results in the BEP in dollars of $30,000. While the ratio is often very useful, there are also some limitations to the ROI formula that are important to know. Alternatively, it can be computed as total fixed costs divided by contribution margin ratio. The BEP in dollars is $30,000 as shown in the computation at 2,000 units. It is that level of activity or operation whereby the total revenue is equal to total cost (ie TRTC). To prove, consider the following scenarios.Īt 2,000 units (break-even point) Per Unit Total Sales (2,000 units) $15 $30,000 Less: Variable Costs 5 10,000 Contribution Margin $10 $20,000 Less: Fixed Costs 20,000 Operating Income (Loss) $ 0Īt 2,001 units (above break-even point) Per Unit Total Sales (2,001 units) $15 $30,015 Less: Variable Costs 5 10,005 Contribution Margin $10 $20,010 Less: Fixed Costs 20,000 Operating Income (Loss) $ 10Īt 1,999 units (below break-even point) Per Unit Total Sales (1,999 units) $15 $29,985 Less: Variable Costs 5 9,995 Contribution Margin $10 $19,990 Less: Fixed Costs 20,000 Operating Income (Loss) ($ 10) Breakeven point analysis is a mathematical model. If the company sells more than 2,000 units, it will make profit. It assumes that fixed costs remain constant at all levels of activity. In practice, however, it may not be possible to achieve a clear-cut division of costs into fixed and variable types. Analysis: At 2,000 units, the company will make zero operating income. Break-even analysis is based on the assumption that all costs and expenses can be clearly separated into fixed and variable components. The action came after four incidents of tail strike involving A321neo aircraft, which is longer than 75% of its other planes, in the last six months. Last week, the airline was fined Rs30 lakh by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for “certain systemic deficiencies" in its documentation pertaining to operations, training and engineering procedures. The company reiterated its increased focus on the international markets and is seeking to leverage its product and network to make international expansion its next leg of growth. IndiGo has received an approval from the civil aviation regulator for extended diversion time operations (EDTO) to fly on direct overseas routes for 120 minutes on A320 family aircraft. The international expansion plans are being implemented at a time that Air India under the Tata group is planning aggressive expansion on international routes to become the airline of choice for Indians flying abroad. The airline currently has codeshare partnerships with Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Qantas, KLM, American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Air France. “IndiGo has strategic partnerships with seven international airlines and continues its discussions with more global airlines," the company said in its annual report for 2022-23. However it is the Chinese form of paper that proved superior and longer lasting. It is from this origin that the English word ‘paper’ is derived. It is made from the central core of papyrus (a type of reed). In Egypt the somewhat similar substance papyrus ➚ was developed at about the same time as paper in China. Other materials like stone and pottery are permanent but just too bulky and slow to fashion in any quantity. Paper seems such an uninteresting thing, but when you think of it, the development of all scientific, historic and artistic endeavor has needed a durable writing medium for permanent records to be kept. Paper is considered one of China's greatest inventions. It can also make a justifiable claim to many other inventions including: Iron casting Examinations Spaghetti Fans Porcelain Blast furnaces the Abacus Ship rudders Silk Planetaria Printed books Pasta Kites Paper money Ice cream Wheelbarrows Acupuncture and many more. As direct contacts between 'Europe' and 'China' were few it was the Central Asian intermediaries who traded in the strange new inventions from the mysterious East. Along the desert Silk Roads between the two great civilizations of the time there must have been the transmission of objects of the greatest value: ideas and inventions. In the case of China, the trade between Rome and China in the Han dynasty is well known and documented. Ming dynasty waterwheel at Lanzhou, Gansu Also an invention may not have been taken up immediately there could be a long gap before adoption. An invention in one place can lead to it being found after a hundred years over a very widespread area. So tracing the first appearance of something is a case of careful detective work. Even so it is quite possible for the same idea to be independently discovered in several places at more or less the same time, greatly complicating any search for the origin. It is only when an invention becomes widely used that there is a realistic chance that someone will have written down an accurate account. The first invention of something is by its nature an isolated event and it is unlikely that the initial discovery is faithfully recorded. Working out who invented precisely what and when is a daunting task as contemporaneous records are fragmentary. On this page we look in detail at five of the most important of these inventions: paper printing the compass gunpowder and the abacus. discovered that many of the great achievements in science and technology actually originated from China. Up until the 1960s World Civilization was considered to have started in the Middle East and Mediterranean with not much of any consequence elsewhere. Similarly shaking hands as a greeting is European, in China a greeting was made with a bow. This is a clear example of how different cultures can develop different traditions. In China clapping was used mainly to drive out evil spirits. The tradition of clapping to show appreciation is a European tradition. Allows creating bookmark tabs with caption and page index.
